Vocaloid - Kagamine Len.

In spite of his younger age and appearance compared to most Vocaloids, it seems like Len is often cast as an overbearing type of yandere (getting an age upgrade in the process). On the other hand, yandere Kaito tends to be more gentle towards his love interest.

Perhaps their contrasting styles are caused by their voices - Kaito’s voice comes across as quieter and calmer than Len’s more vivid tone - or perhaps by the preferences of the first people to make their yandere songs. Then again, there are other contributing factors, such as the brightness of Len’s yellow colour scheme making him seem more direct and dominant and the coolness of Kaito’s blue colour scheme making him seem more subtle and reserved.

…Or maybe it’s just chance, after all, and one day soon we’ll see a rise in gentle yandere Len and dominating yandere Kaito.

If there are any Akita Neru or Len Kagamine yandere images out there, that would be pretty amazing .

As much as I like Neru, there simply don’t seem to be any yandere Neru images out there. She’s always portrayed as tsundere, and the two character types are almost immiscible.

I probably discovered the concept of “yandere” from the Higurashi community when I first watched it… 4 years ago, I think. That was about the same time I ran into the word “moe” and tried to Google what it meant and found mostly unhelpful results.

Anyway, Rena was the first yangire character I liked, and Shion the first yandere. Soon, I hunted down Elfen Lied and School Days and, a while later, Shuffle. There was also the Yandere no Onna no Ko series - I particularly liked Nanamiya Iori from the second CD, and this made me try to hunt down all the yandere shrine maiden images (and there were, regrettably, not many at all).

…And that is the utterly uninspiring tale of my fall into the dark flames of the love of yandere. Did that sound sufficiently melodramatic?

People really need to calm down about the whole sourcing thing. You're right-- once you put something online, the public has access to it, and there's nothing stopping them from doing pretty much whatever they want with it. Sure, it would be nice if everyone sourced, but this isn't a perfect world now is it? Some artists wouldn't even care. As long as a person isn't claiming their work as their own, it's not really theft or anything, just wanting to share something you found that you liked.

I understand why some people are extremely passionate about this subject - outright art theft can adversely affect someone’s online reputation, and many people are upset when another person claims their work for their own.

An increasing number of people take a different view, however, like the one expressed by this anon here.

This is a sensitive subject on the Internet - I understand that. Both this anon and I agree that sourcing images is ideal. In this particular instance, it would be impractical to implement. Reality has certain unfortunate limitations.

Thank you all for remaining civil on such a controversial subject. I very much appreciate this from my readers.

Just because artists haven't hassled you over it doesn't mean that it isn't rude. And just because you handed the blog to someone else doesn't mean they shouldn't source the images.

I did start sourcing images a while ago, as you may have noticed from my own most recent posts from a few months ago. I have since handed this blog over to another person, however, and what he posts is thus up to his own discretion.

…Please be patient while I discuss this with him.

Given the size of the archive, it would be impractical to go back and source all the images already posted. If any individual artists would like to raise this issue with me for specific images, then I will add sources to those.

Aside from that, please understand that rudeness and disrespect are largely subjective. It would be fair to assume that the majority of artists would like to be credited and that some would like to control where their works are used, but I’ve personally always considered everything of my own creation that I put on the Internet so far to be something along the lines of “Public Domain, attribution requested but not required”.

Thank you for understanding.

Ah, that girl is a new Vocaloid named Mayu. She’s planned for release on the 5th of December.

Unusually, she was designed and marketed as a yandere girl from the start. I suppose the industry is really catching on - or just riding the wave of new fans brought by Mirai Nikki.
