Yandere stab count:

Saya no Uta - Saya.
The first ending. It seems that the fewest people chose this as their favourite ending, although it does have a decent following of its own - after all, while it doesn’t give a sense of fulfillment, it’s the most…ethical.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica - Miki Sayaka.
…Trapped by rings of light. How fitting.
You know, I’ve become wary about tagging anything as “yandere” or “yangire” if they don’t feature knives or blood anywhere. Still, this image has an unsettling quality…

Touhou Project - Kirisame Marisa.
Fun fact: The vast majority of characters drawn in anime/manga styles can be identified with their faces covered.
The same is absolutely untrue in reality. (Probably. Maybe we’ll have Google Hair Recognition sometime in the future…)

Kirisame Marisa?

Marisa, hmm? Well, with her LOVE-filled attitude and spellcards, perhaps she could have a yandere side to her.

She does claim to be insane, after all.

The mushrooms don’t help.

Mirai Nikki - Gasai Yuno.
“Gasai” is a fitting surname for a yandere girl. It does mean “my wife”, after all.
However, due to the influence of the internet, “Yuno” simply becomes “Y U NO”. It’s somewhat unfortunate, but mostly entertaining.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni - Sonozaki Shion.
As I wrote yesterday, blood splatters are difficult to draw. You can see that point demonstrated here.
I posted a link to a tutorial a while ago - ten months ago, in fact. Has it really been that long?
EDIT: Found the tutorial.

Ah, it’s become hard to find - or even identify - good yandere Shion fanart that I haven’t posted yet. I’ll try to dig one up. Perhaps I’ll have to make some concessions in terms of quality…

Vocaloid - Kagamine Rin.
Blood splatters look simple, but they can be hard to draw. That’s why most people use brushes for them, nowadays.

Fate/zero - Matou Kariya.
“If memory served – he was supposed to never make this person – whom he loved above anyone else – cry again, and to fight for her even at the cost of his life.
If that was the case, then this woman sobbing in front of him right now – who was she? If he were to accept the answer, wouldn’t Matō Kariya fall to pieces?”
A while ago, I referred to him as my favourite yandere character. It was precisely because of this moment - the one in this week’s episode. It was executed more elegantly in the novel, I think. Read the relevant section here if you wish.

Saya no Uta - Saya.
Saya gives off a distinctly otherworldly air from the very beginning. It should be unsurprising to most people that she turns out to be, well, not of this world.
Ah, that’s right, the ending poll. I’ve just decided that the end where Kouji wins has an impressively high sense of completion, mostly due to the dream sequence in the epilogue. It ties up loose ends in terms of the human side of things.
Of course, the ending where Saya blooms ties up the loose ends in terms of the mystical and alien side of things.
As for the first ending… It may be the most emotionally acceptable.
